Hello loyal readers. Andy Foz here back on the boat with Colin (fisherman) Rainback and Terry and Heather. We joined Kev, John and Colin last night in Marbella on a windless toasty 30 degree blue sky day. Colin and I walked into the old town to get our bearings and find a supermarket. Clever town deprives locals of such facilities in order to keep the bars and restaurants busy. The old town was lovely compared to the tourist battered sea front. We found shade in a small bar in the square ams enjoyed tapas and white wine then beer and brochette.
Back on the boat it was time to scrub the decks and clean up ready for the crew change.
Later after showering we head off to the old town. The back streets high up in the town are too far for the grockles and we find gastronomic heaven in a seafood restaurant where we enjoy baby squid deep fried seaweed sardines paella monk fish caserol with prawns mussels and clamp.
Heather joins us as we crash back at the boat. After fighting off the mozzies is time for bed.
After a leasurely breakfast in the sunshine we slip the lazy line and head East in 15 kts goose winged past the over developed grockle coast to Benemededa a 1000 berth port.
Kev John and Colin D pack th g er it kit and we wave them off. Colin with a tear in his eye (no fish!)
The leg 3 crew decide to explore and soon find the mile long strip is true grockle land. Women's boobs that you don't want to look at and man boobs and bellies red and tattooed.
We are about to retreat to the sanity of Echo but first check the tourist office. There is an old town 2 miles up the hill where quality and class abound. After a quick rum punch on the boat and a shower we get the bus. The hills are beautiful and we get lost in the scenery and miss our stop. By chance we find ourselves on top of the mountain looking down on a magnificent view over the bay. And there was a restaurant! We sat overlooking the Andalucian coast as the sun slowly set and we enjoyed 5 star cuisine. Later we walk down through the old town and stop in the square for a final beer before hailing a taxi back to the boat.
